about

Tiger: This song was essentially a bunch of righteous teenagers' first attempt at writing a punk song, and whilst I wouldn't consider it a revolutionary addition to the genre it definitely inspired us to go our own way with what we consider punk. The lyrical content of this song is fairly simple, spouting lines supportive of Animal Rights in general and although some of the lines are a bit cringe-worthy to look back on, it's still nice to know that our moral stance on the topic haven't changed.

At the time of writing this we still regularly play Just Injustice at gigs (mainly due to the most triumphant bridge), however it's likely to be dropped from our set-lists in the near future due to our gradually expanding catalogue of new songs. Although the song is getting old it's still nice to listen to every now and then just to highlight how much we've grown as a band.

James #2: At the time when this was written I hadn't yet joined Goldstein; I was busy with uni and my Coventry band Parataxis, and Goldstein was Tiger's project with some friends. But being the meddling older brother, I of course had to try and help Tiger when he started writing his first song for the band. At the time, I certainly had more songwriting experience than Tiger, though I wasn't exactly past the rudimentary stuff. As such, the guidance I gave in writing this song led to a fairly by-the-book punk song. Thankfully we've all advanced in our songwriting since then, and this remains our somewhat hackneyed firstborn song.

lyrics

Caged like a monster, by the smart,
But these people, they've got no heart.

You don't need a voice to feel pain,
Just because you're smart don't make you sane.

People stress about jobs and money,
But what these creatures endure, just isn't funny.

You don't need a voice to feel pain,
Just because you're smart don't make you sane.

You don't need a voice to feel pain,
Just because you're smart don't make you sane.
Don't become a part of it, don't become the blame,
End this ruthless atrocity and douse this ancient flame.

From their covers to their originals, you'll find the power-chords and speed endemic to old school punk, mixed with more melodic vocals and skilful playing present in modern punk. Of course, variety is the spice of life, and Goldstein aren't afraid to mix some ska, rap or Muse into their set to keep things interesting. ... more
